Hunger Bash raises $124k for food shelves

KARE 11 personality Rena Sargianopoulos emceed the event at Nicollet Island Pavilion.

KARE 11 news anchor Rena Sarigianopoulos emceed this year’s Hunger Bash gala, where Luther Automotive served as a key sponsor.

“It was really terrific.  They’ve been such good supports for us for so long, said Lori Kratchmer, executive director of The Food Group, which many knew previously as the Emergency Foodshelf Network.

She describes the nonprofit as a “small but mighty” organization that serves as a larger food supplier for 107 area foodshelves throughout Minnesota.

The event raised $124,000, up significantly from $90,000 in 2014.  Funds are designated for healthy and nutritious foods, with an emphasis on fresh produce.Luther’s Chief Financial Officer, Barb Hilbert, serves on The Food Group board.
