Citing the important role Big Brothers Big Sisters plays in supporting young people in the community, Luther Honda of St. Cloud stepped forward to sponsor a major award for the organization. The “BriAnna Kruzel Growing Up Big Award” was presented in honor of the person whose name it bears at the recent Magic Moments Gala event for the central Minnesota organization.
Big Brothers Big Sisters has been a favorite organization of the central Minnesota Honda dealership. “They are doing amazing work with our local youth who will be the future leaders of our Minnesota communities,” said GM Carlos Garcia.
The award honors a young mentor who passed away unexpectedly, after having assisted
individuals in coping with difficult circumstances. Kruzel was both a former “Little Sister” and “High School Big Sister.” When she was a young girl her father was deployed with the U.S. military and her mother found a “Big Sister” to help her through the stressful time. Later, she decided to pay it forward by becoming a mentor herself.
A near perfect match was found when she helped support a young girl whose own father was deployed. The two were able to understand and relate to one another in a way that few could ever understand.
The award, recognizing her service to the community and her character, was accepted by her family at the gala. The dealership provided the sponsorship to establish the honor and is an agency partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota.
