Two newer Luther stores have some of the hottest brands, and prime locations in Brooklyn Center, but their design makes them ideal for something else– solar power.

Expansive rooftops are great to accommodate the sturdy frames and solar panels that supply 8 to 10 percent of the store’s power needs.

A “monstrous” power inverter changes the DC power collected from the sun to AC power, says Service advisor Duane Greene at Luther Brookdale Toyota. The units have been trouble free and receive periodic inspections.

Similar units are in use across the lot at Brookdale Honda. Rudy Luther’s Toyota & Scion and Westside Volkswagen also employ solar panels. Learn more in the April issue of Minnesota Business magazine.
