There are times when doing what’s familiar is a good thing, and that’s the story of the fire and police open house at Luther Burnsville Hyundai.
General Sales Manager Dean Dreckman is a retired volunteer fire chief of 20 years, having served in that position in Lindstrom.
Knowing that October was fire prevention month, he invited the Burnsville fire and police departments to the store on a Saturday to meet the public and promote safety. A child seat advocate was on hand, as well. “There were red fire hats for the kids and everything,” he said.
The store advertised and the story was in a local newspaper. Customers came and many employees brought their children. Community outreaches like these are helping to connect the store to the community. “Rome was not built in a day,” said Dreckman, who has gotten to know a couple of police officers and hopes to partner with the nearby Buck Hill skiing and area Boy Scouts.
