Some benefits employees enjoy extend beyond Luther Auto to its industry associations, like the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association, which awarded seven $2,000 scholarships to Luther employees and family members.
The Luther News caught up with several of the winners. First was Alicia Chmielewski with Brookdale Honda, who is studying for a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition studies at the University of Minnesota. Besides work, her mother has been her only other means of school support. “It was great to be able to tell her that I received a scholarship – especially one through my work!” Her job has offered the flexibility needed to attend school full-time.
At Fiat of Brookdale, the winner was Symone Wilson, who was urged by her mother, Cathy, to apply.
Symone is taking general education courses at Normandale Community College. She sings in Japanese, German and English. She hopes to teach children from many cultures, or go into nursing.
