Giving credit where credit is due, Luther Auto commended its top level service and parts operations during the 2013 “Best of the Best” awards in fixed operations.

The departments welcomed a new category this time, “Volume Leader,” and the winner was no surprise– Rudy Luther’s Toyota and Scion.

“We try to be innovative with new processes, new ways of doing things,” said Service Director John Kendall. “We always try to get better.” Examples through the years include development of an express service marketplace, which was a response to declining billable hours for car repairs.

“This was the opportunity to do it on such a huge volume, Kendall said. “It’s great now, and very much copied. We pushed the envelope.“ Now, the store has one of the highest service volumes in the country, Kendall explains.

Luther Nissan Kia gained top honors for parts, but Parts Manager Tom Walsh credits the store’s service department. “They’re kind of rock stars out there. We have a smaller shop, and they’re pretty ridiculous, they work pretty hard.”

Operating from its new store, Brookdale Toyota prevailed in the service category, while Luther Collision and Glass of Fargo returned as a frequent winner in its division.

Service Specialist Tim Stoesz with Motors Management said fixed operations is having a good year. “We are really taking the time to get to know our guests as they come in the door … making that connection,” he said. People feel comfortable with their service advisors, and trust them more to get the jobs done, explains Stoesz.
