Brookdale Volkswagen store opens in refreshed building
With prompting from Volkswagen, in a matter of weeks, Luther Auto used its dealership expertise to create a new venture in Brooklyn Park, where Luther Brookdale Volkswagen became the company’s fourth VW franchise.
Still fresh from major building projects for Brookdale Honda and Brookdale Toyota, Kathy Dickson and Linda McGinty in property management for Luther Auto led transformative rehab efforts at the Brookdale location. The goal was to be true to VW’s
identity, and provide a great store experience for customers and employees, McGinty explained. Plans for a newly constructed VW store in the area are just beginning.
The new VW venture is headed by General Manager Jim Baldwin, of Luther Westside Volkswagen. The former new car manager said he began as a “lot kid,” and started selling VWs in 1977. Going on to college, he worked for Chevrolet before returning to Westside in 1985.
Baldwin said the new store will bring better awareness of VW to the area. The Brookdale dealership is the last VW stop before St. Cloud.
“It will be fun. The people that we’ve hired are super people,” Baldwin said.
The GM brought in former VW advisor Brett Baird, to manage service. In parts, Jon Eidsness from Burnsville Volkswagen brings his management experience after 20 years at the south metro store. Todd Earnest manages vehicle sales and Kristi Glidden is business manager.
New lights, paint and signage helped rebrand the store in a very short period of time. Baldwin had many kudos for Dickson and McGinty, who put their store planning expertise to work.
