It was a difficult pedal-powered 150 mile trek from Duluth to White Bear Lake, but several employees from Luther Auto departed anyway for the MS150 event benefiting multiple sclerosis research.
The fundraising push was led by longtime self described biker and Westside Volkswagen GM Steve Hendricks. His nicknames are multiple: Slow Spoke, Back in the Saddle and Tailwind. Marking his 26th year, he rallied others to raise $8,070 for the cause. Employees Rich Meredyk and Steve Broucek rode, as well.
Also on the ride was Kyle Weispfenning with Motors Management, who biked the MS150 for the sixth time. “It was also the first (and hopefully only) year that we didn’t finish,” he said.
“It was so hot and windy on Sunday that we had to throw in the towel 25 miles from the finish due to illness and heat exhaustion.” He rode with a team of four, Forma One Racers, which raised more than $4,000. “I’ve been riding for over twenty years and used to ride all year round,” he said.
